The Hoteikan Judo program teaches the principles of Kodokan Judo. This Art was developed in Japan and founded by Kano Sensei. We teach a well-rounded program and are associated with the major Judo Associations. In addition to the competitive aspect of the Art, we emphasize both the combative and urban defense applications of the Art. View a Judo teaching video.

The Hoteikan Judo program accomplishes this through training in the following principles:

1. Ukemi: The art of falling and rolling without injury.
2. Tai-Sabaki: Body movement and evasion.
3. Kuzushi: The Art of unbalancing.
4. Throws: All throws recognized by the Kodokan.
5. Grappling: The Art of holding your opponent with control.
6. Strangulation: The Art of restricting the airflow and blood flow.
7. Joint manipulation: Control through joint locks.
8. Katas: Two-person forms emphasizing technique.
9. Competition training: Techniques designed for competition.
10. Self-defense: Applied techniques for survival/Goshin Jitsu
